Whether it was drinking beer, playing sports, commanding a company, or partying; Bill aways did well. "Wolfer loved his freedom- he was never one to hang around on weekends. (Don't know why he's getting married). Well, I guess "No one ever said it would be easy."

February 11, 1956 ~ November 19, 2025 (age 69)

William J. Wolfe (Bill), age 69, of Wading River, passed away on November 19, 2025. Bill was born on February 11,1956, to Robert and Sigrid Irene Wolfe in Copiague, NY, where he lived until 1972.  Bill then moved upstate to Narrowsburg, NY, where he lived until college.  Bill graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1978.  Afterwards, he served his country for 5 years, earning the rank of Captain.  Upon leaving the Army, he moved to Beach Lake, PA, to raise his family.  In 1995, he returned to Long Island and resided in Wading River.

Bill carried the leadership skills he acquired at West Point with him through a lifetime of selfless service as a youth sports coach and member of the Lions Club, along with his career in health insurance.

Bill loved sports, especially the Yankees and “Old Man Basketball,” as he would call it, which led to several lifelong friendships.  One friendship in particular involved many fishing trips to Sebago, Maine.   Bill also loved the beach, especially on his annual trips to Aruba with his family.

Bill was the beloved husband of Edith Wolfe and the loving father of Michael (Allison), A.J. (Melissa), Lindsay (Mike), and Dan. He was a treasured brother to James (Melissa), Thomas (Helen), Eileen (Richard), Ann, and Regina (Clint), and a cherished grandfather to Chloe, Mia, Cooper, Luke, Ryan, Tyler, Henry, and Emily.  Bill was also loved by his large extended family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who knew him;  he made a difference in the life of anyone he met.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 24, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Wading River, NY. Interment with Army Honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
