Obituary

James Patrick Yuengert, age 67, of Dale City, VA passed away on May 6th, 2024.

Jim was born in Austin Texas to Louis A. Yuengert and Regina A. Yuengert (Hogan) on January 23,1957.

He attended Kecoughtan High School in Hampton VA. He graduated from the US Military Academy, West Point NY in 1978 and continued his education at University of California at Berkeley, earning a masters degree in Civil Engineering. Jim served as an engineer in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Major and several awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Jim retired from the Army in 1995 and continued his engineering career at the US Department of State and the Smithsonian Institution, from which he retired in 2020.

Jim was married to Teresa Ann Yuengert (Ventimiglio) on May 19th, 1990 in Detroit, Michigan.

He is preceded in death by his father, Louis A Yuengert, mother Regina A Yuengert and Sister Susan Yuengert (Jones). He is survived by his spouse Teresa, and their children Amy (Yale) Smith and Andrew (Alyssa) Roman Yuengert. He is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters, Mary Yuengert, Louis (Christine) Yuengert, Andrew (Elizabeth)Yuengert, Anne Yuengert, Jan (Kyle) Harrington and Denise (Eric) Palm.
